Supposedly that Davidson's widow is a real bitch to work for and Tom Wilson and Mrs. D do not see eye to eye.

I guess Wilson is now going on road trips (which he normally doesn't do) looking for a new opportunity in another city.

I wonder how this will impact the franchise.

I hope this broad doesn't turn into a Georgia Frontiere or a Rachel Phelps.

Tom Wilson?

I open this thread hoping to God that Rip Hamilton is about to be traded, and you give me "the widow of a billionaire is a bitch" and Tom Wilson.

Just passing it along.

It isn't very important, but based on his previous tips, it is most likely true.

Being that Tom Wilson has been a huge part of the organization's success for the last 20 years I would say it's a fairly big piece of news if true.

Wasn't John Hammond considered to be pretty good also? If I recall correctly, I read something on him doing a pretty good job where he is now (Milwaukee?).

Seems like those two have done a ton more good for the organization over the long-term than bad.

Hammond is highly regarded (supposedly turned down 2 ... maybe 3 GM jobs before going to the Bucks, Toronto for sure, I think Atlanta as well when they fired the guy who drafted all the players they have now, not sure though). I think this is only his second season there and they are the 6th seed currently with Redd out for most of it so far (though they are still under .500). Jury is still out. Some of his off-season moves were a little puzzling but he got rid of both Yi and Jefferson which are positive moves in my book (though he did bring in Jefferson to get rid of Yi so there's that).

Wilson is, as far as I know, the guy who leaks all the shit about how awful everyone is after they leave the Pistons. He's in charge of the profit margin on the business side which has never been a problem for the Pistons as long as I can remember (so it's hard to say he's anything but good at his job even if he might be an asshole). He's not directly (or indirectly I believe) involved with anything to do with the players or game side of things (I'm pretty sure I've seen him say as much in multiple Pistons Weekly segments or whatever) but losing money equals possibly losing the ability to sign players (or selling the franchise, see the Shock).

Overall, there have been zero positive things to say about the old lady being in charge so far.

Re: Wilson.

I was thinking about his role more as an executive over Palace Sports and Entertainment. It seems they have taken DTE, the Palace and Meadowbrook and done a pretty solid job with them (obviously it's hard to say that recently as that kind of revenue has probably been down nationwide over the last two years). To your point, it seems like having all that be successful would only feed through the Pistons organization even if indirectly.

He seems like a bit of snake from what people have reported here and elsewhere, but I'm jaded enough to expect that from someone running an enterprise of that size.

The point about profitable teams being more likely to win is exactly what I was getting at.

Wilson seems to have played a pretty large role in the organization as a whole being a profit machine.

So losing him could have an impact on some level down the road.

Speaking of Hamilton isn't it time to at least get an extra backboard or something minimal before it is too late?

According to Jess Moss of the Detroit Sports Rag, "Davidson's widow is a real bitch to work for.."

Does that work for you? I'll have to run it by my bosses of course.
